Hello everyone!
I hope you enjoyed seeing this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it! I’m grateful for the opportunity to have this year’s first published artwork and encourage you to come back to see more amazing pieces by the talented members of our team. Thank you, and Happy Halloween!
I created this drawing to celebrate Halloween, which is coming up very soon! Since animals are my favorite subjects to draw, I thought a bat would be an adorable and thematically fitting choice for the season. In this piece, I illustrated a vampire bat perched above a pumpkin patch under the night sky. I wanted both the animal and background to reflect the spirit of Halloween, which inspired the dark, starry sky and pumpkin patch setting.
For this artwork, I used Prismacolor pencils for most of the coloring, a black pen for the line art, and a white Posca paint marker to enhance the highlights and fine details, especially in the eyes and outlines. This piece was completed on an index card and took roughly five hours to finish.
