Damnation in Development

Naomi Hales’29

Damnation is an upcoming indie project containing a video game, comic series, art, writing, and even specialized music composition. Led by a group of high school students, it was created by a team consisting of Chance Boyer and four other members who go by their initials: N, A, J, and M. The project aims to explore a story shaped by numerous contributors so the group can share and develop ideas together as a whole.

The overarching plot of Damnation centers on “a group of seemingly unrelated characters” gathered on a mysterious island by an “unknown force” to fulfill an “endless war.” The characters don’t understand the true meaning of this gathering until “they meet the force itself.” Both the plot and game take inspiration from the game Dead by Daylight, which was released in June of 2016. The game is expected to release in “a year or two,” and the webcomic is coming “within the next month.” You can view it on the Damnation Comics TikTok and Instagram pages.

The project is rather ambitious, yet the team’s clear passion for creation in all different forms is sure to carry them to success. The interviewing process really made me fall in love with the game, even though it has yet to be released, because of the joy I can see it brings the creators. It sparked a bond that I hope others can find in this game, as I genuinely believe that this game could be something truly amazing.

Before ending the interview, I asked if the group had any more comments they would like to add. Chance responded that, “Besides the plot of Damnation, the main theme is highlighting different mental illnesses,” which can be seen in each unique character. More news of this project is yet to come, so if you would like to be updated, please consider following the Damnation Comics Instagram or TikTok. I hope you consider checking out this project when its documents release, and have as much fun with it as they
do.
